“A lot of HR managers would finally like a letter with spelling mistakes again, from a real human.” A spokesperson for employers' association AWVN, as reported by NRC
That sigh sums up a new problem. Since AI chatbots became mainstream, institutions have been flooded with neat-looking but often flawed texts. The European Consumer Centre saw its enquiries grow by 30 percent and eventually shut down its general email address. Financial complaints body Kifid saw a similar rise, complete with references to court rulings that do not exist. The Dutch municipality of Montferland even counted 400 percent more objections.
The AI paradox
AI makes it easier to submit something and, at the same time, harder to be heard. When everyone submits the same polished text, everything starts to look alike. The reader tunes out, not because your story is weak, but because it drowns in the pile.
Staffing agency Randstad drew a radical conclusion and minimised the application letter as a selection tool, because its recruiters no longer wanted to lose time on near-identical AI letters. In other words: the document that generative AI is best at counts for less and less in more and more places.
Standing out means being recognisably human
Here is the opportunity. In an inbox full of generic text, the winner is not the slickest letter but the most recognisable human. Concrete, specific, with a face and a story that sticks, exactly what an AI text so often lacks.
Our approach: AI as the helper, you as the lead
At Plug and CV we flip the logic. Instead of adding another letter to the pile, you build a personal CV website: a place that is yours and that a recruiter opens with a single click.
- AI does the heavy lifting, you stay in charge. Import your details from LinkedIn or your old CV and let the bio helper draft a first version, but the words stay yours. No anonymous slop, just your voice.
- Designs that stick. Pick from distinctive templates employers remember, instead of yet another identical document.
- Bilingual, Dutch and English. One website, two languages, without double the work.
- Your link, your domain. Share a clean personal link or your own domain, and download everything as a PDF whenever you like.
The difference is in what the recipient experiences. Not a wall of generated text, but a real person, built in a few minutes and entirely your own.
Authenticity is your edge
The AI wave is not going to settle. But that is exactly why being human becomes more valuable. Make sure a recruiter sees you, not the chatbot, and use AI to tell your story more sharply rather than to invent it for you.
